Rate parity means offering the same public rate everywhere. Many OTA contracts require it. The opportunity for independents is to keep parity on price while winning on value.

Monitor Parity Continuously

Use a rate shopping or parity monitoring tool, or a weekly manual audit of your top OTAs, metasearch results and your own booking engine.

Win on Value, Not Price

Add direct-only benefits: free breakfast, late checkout, parking, flexible cancellation, or a welcome amenity. These do not break public rate parity.

Use Member and Package Rates Carefully

Logged-in member rates and bundled packages can sit outside parity restrictions. Check your OTA agreements, then build offers around them.

Fix Channel Manager Leaks

Wholesale and opaque channels can undercut your public rate. Review channel manager settings so cheaper rates do not leak to public listings.

Make the Direct Experience Better

Faster booking, clear total price and a trusted brand site convert the guest who has seen the same rate everywhere.
